Maintenance planning and work orders in CAMOLOG

Александр Филимонов ·

Each upcoming maintenance item has a chain behind it: an applicable basis, counter, starting point, previous completion and supporting document. For a Mi-8/Mi-171 helicopter, that chain needs review before a work order is prepared.

CAMOLOG connects the selected aircraft's records with maintenance planning and its work-order register. The system helps assemble work into a document and retain history. Engineers review the starting data, applicability and completion scope.

Maintenance-planning software should distinguish an upcoming task, an order for that task and an evidenced completion. For Mi-8/Mi-171 records, these stages connect to life limits, calendar limits and maintenance history. Following that chain provides a practical software-review scenario.

Establish why the work is due

Start with the basis. Which aircraft or component does the task concern? Which document revision applies? What event sets the starting point? Is the previous completion supported? These answers allow the planning entry to be assessed properly.

If the last completion date appears only in a spreadsheet, find the evidence supporting it. Conflicting source values remain a question until resolved. Displaying the task on screen does not resolve the discrepancy.

Consider a training example: a document for previously completed work is uploaded today. The upload date describes an action in the system. Recording completion requires the actual work date, relevant accumulated values and evidence. Keeping these events separate helps avoid scheduling a one-time task again.

Review time and calendar limits separately

An hourly balance depends on initial accumulation and subsequent entries. A calendar limitation depends on a date and applicable interval. A component may have several limitations, so the helicopter's total flight time alone cannot describe the full position.

Open the component record and verify its identity. Replacing an installed item, correcting its details and changing a limitation's basis are different events. If a serial number has recently changed, check that the supporting document belongs to the correct item.

In a CAMOLOG demonstration, we suggest following an upcoming task back to its source. This makes clear which records must remain current after onboarding.

Assemble the selected work

In planning, select tasks, a planned date and a maintenance organisation. Review the scope before generating the work order: it should contain the items prepared for that request.

An organisation's presence in a directory does not establish approval for every selected task. The responsible specialists must check the scope of approval and execution conditions separately. A directory entry is not a universal recommendation for all variants or work.

Work-order numbers are generated automatically. In the current version, numbering is shared across the organisation within each year. The selected aircraft's register provides its document history. This explains why one helicopter's sequence may contain gaps.

Read the generated document in full

Before transfer, verify aircraft details, task scope, planned date, maintenance organisation and approvers. Compare every item in the work order with the agreed task list and original request.

Check similar task descriptions and abbreviations. A short internal note may not give the receiving organisation enough detail. Where a document reference or paragraph is required to identify the task, it must be clear in the agreed package.

Review attachments as well. A file in the aircraft archive does not establish that the maintenance organisation received it. Agree the document-transfer process; a customer's restricted archive is not a public library.

Record the actual completion

After the work, attach the signed document and review the completed items, date and relevant readings. It should be clear which evidence supports each item being closed.

Where part of the work remains uncertain, one general message is insufficient to confirm the entire order. Ordered tasks and evidenced results can differ. Resolve that difference before updating the corresponding records.

A facsimile signature in a template is not, by itself, a completion record. Subsequent planning requires actual event details and supporting documentation.

Review manufacturer documents separately

A newly received bulletin or publication requires review against the type, variant, serial number and installed configuration. Reading a document, determining applicability and completing the work are separate stages.

An applicable document can become a basis for further work. If information is incomplete, the engineer records a specific question, such as missing attachments or uncertain equipment configuration. Downloading a file neither proves completion nor automatically changes every numerical limitation.

Manufacturer-library review depends on available material and the operator's access. Incomplete reviews must remain visible in the current process. Full automatic currency of the entire document set should not be assumed.

Test a complete process during the demonstration

Choose one training task and follow it from its basis to completion evidence. Identify where the source is checked, how the work order is created and where the resulting record is found. Discuss responsibilities and how disputed items will be handled.

To prepare the demonstration, describe the helicopter variant and current workflow. Live customer documents are unnecessary for the first meeting. The onboarding scope and evidence package can be agreed after the process has been reviewed.
